Mackenzie Bourque (Muh)- Dance Instructor

Miss Mackenzie has loved dancing since the age of 3. She has trained in various styles of dance such as Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Ballet, Hip-hop, Tap, and Musical Theatre. She also has 4 years or cheerleading, tumbling acrobatics up her sleeve.

Miss Mackenzie has loved to preform and compete her whole life and has travelled around Alberta, Saskatchewan, Florida, California, and Vancouver to do so. She has won many high scoring awards throughout her dance and cheer career. At just 16, she had the opportunity to go to The Summit competition for cheerleading at the ESPN centre in Florida against many high level competitive teams. She also was part in 3 Musical Theatre productions put on by Paul Kane High School which included The Little Mermaid (tap dancing seagull, ballerina lily pad, dancing fish), Les Miserables (lovely lady, poor person, wedding ballroom dancer), and Phantom of the Opera (co captain ballerina) where Miss Mackenzie also was the lead choreographer of all ballet dances in the musical. Whilst  being a powerful and energetic dancer within the cast of these productions, if any member of the cast needed extra help to learn the choreography, Miss Mackenzie was one of the first people they would see to enhance their dancing.

Miss Mackenzie has taken many drop in classes and workshops to better her dancing skills, as well as learn a variety of new things to help her grow as a dancer and a teacher. After graduating Paul Kane High School with Honours in 2019,  she attended MC College for their Hairstyling fast track program where she graduated from in March of 2020. Her love for hairstyling also makes her willing and apt to doing anyones hair for a competition or event in a heart beat. (She also loves to change up the colour of her own hair, so the next time you see her it might be different from the last!)

When Miss Mackenzie isn’t at the studio you can find her working away at her other jobs or spending time with friends, family, cat (Mellow), and gecko (Geiko) who she loves all very much.

Miss Mackenzie was given the name Miss Muh by her fellow dance mates and teachers where it stuck around the studio since she first joined Overdrive Dance Force when she was 16, and continues to wear the nickname proudly. She has a contagious laugh and is always willing to volunteer and be supportive whenever she can. Her positive and confident attitude before she even walks through the studio doors leaves you always counting on her smile that will definitely brighten you day. She loves entertaining and encouraging young dancers to help them grow, and is very excited to share her love and passion for dancing with every new dancer she meets!
