Shannon Lin is an aspiring artist emerging out of Edmonton and is currently studying at Simon Fraser University in the Dance program, at the School for the Contemporary Arts. While training at Dance Theme Ltd, she has danced for over 15 years, starting in ballet and tap, then quickly gained interest in other styles such as jazz, hip hop, lyrical, modern, and contemporary. Receiving a Distinction award in all of her Royal Academy of Dance examinations, Shannon took a serious approach to ballet and ensured to incorporate ballet technique into the other styles she trains in. During her training, she also took up many performance opportunities. Notable performances include the group opening number at The Pulse on Tour, where Shannon was selected to be a participant after her self-choreographed contemporary solo was performed at the showcase. She was also a candidate at the RAD Dance Challenge in Vancouver, and has also performed and competed at local competitions and travelled to conventions. Her convention experience has allowed her to train outside of the studio to learn from multiple choreographers such as Travis Wall, Stacey Tookey, Jillian Meyers, Mark Meismer, and many more. Inspired by the renowned artists, she hopes to increase her choreographic experience and introduce contemporary dance to beginners or advanced dancers to enable them to learn and expand their artistry, but to also inspire my composition as a growing mover.
